Senior Security Architect

Location: Remote (EST/PT hours available)
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (flexible within EST/PT)
Compensation: $80.00 - $85.00 per hour

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Security Architect to lead the end-to-end security architecture for our cloud platforms, products, and services. In this remote, full-time role, you will collaborate with security, compliance, and engineering teams to design and implement innovative security solutions that align with business objectives. Key Responsibilities:

• Evangelize cybersecurity architecture principles, translating complex security concepts into actionable insights for product teams and engineers.
• Integrate and streamline security tools, standards, and processes throughout the development lifecycle.
• Advise on secure design principles for infrastructure and application architectures, translating security requirements into well-defined user stories, epics, and initiatives.
• Conduct security design reviews, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessments for infrastructure, applications, APIs, and banking platforms to ensure security and compliance standards are met.
• Collaborate with development teams to review and enhance new features, providing security feedback to mitigate risks early in the development process.
• Analyze cloud security trends, identify vulnerabilities, and advise on best practices for cloud security management.
• Develop comprehensive security test plans and blueprints for new products and services.
• Design automated security solutions ("security as code") leveraging cloud services and CI/CD pipelines.
• Continuously evaluate existing security architectures, identifying weaknesses and recommending improvements.
• Partner with risk and compliance teams to facilitate impactful security risk assessments.
• Contribute to the creation and enforcement of security policies, standards, and guidelines.
• Utilize leading security tools (SAST, DAST, SCA) to identify application security risks, ensuring effective controls are in place without hindering usability.
• Lead the architecture, prioritization, and coordination of security technologies to maintain a highly secure environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of cloud services, especially AWS, and the AWS Well-Architected Framework security pillar.
• Proven experience with threat modeling, security design reviews, and risk identification techniques.
• Deep knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipeline security practices.
• Familiarity with network/web protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS), identity and access management, OAuth2.0, OIDC, SAML.
• Extensive experience with web application security, microservices, API security, service mesh (e.g., Istio), microsegmentation, and cryptographic protocols.
• Knowledge of security threat landscapes, vulnerability management, and security monitoring tools.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for translating security concepts into understandable language.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
• 8+ years of experience in security architecture for infrastructure and cloud-native applications.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native products, microservice architectures, and at-scale AWS services.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as PCI, GLBA, HIPAA, GDPR, SOX.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GSEC, or AWS Certified Security Specialty.
• Experience in financial services or regulated industries is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments and manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
